I'm really not liking my current WC setup. Changed the coolant, and i realized immediately how bad my original design was, so I want to remake it.

However, all the compromises were directly attributable to the crappy/tight server case I used.

I have not found a case large enough for my needs. Also, I don't like/know how to work with steel or weld, but I want to build my own, and I was thinking of making a cheap wood case with the occasional steel piece as a drive cage, mobo tray, etc.

I need to lay everything out first though, so that I can plan properly.

Does anyone have or know of any dxf/dwg/whatever blocks or plans for a computer case and/or various computer components? It's getting really annoying trying to properly dimension parts and line up bolt holes with any degree of accuracy.

I will recreate/model my water blocks/pump/res, but it would really help if I could get some 'standard' parts premade/available/modeled and build the casing around them.

of course, the final product will be made available to whomever asks :)

Honestly you should stay aqay from wood for a case. You wont get any kind of extra heat dissipation with a wood case and could potentially cause a higher ambient temp in your case.

If you want to build your own stick with metals.

I know it's a great insulator, but I really need custom sizing... I have yet to see a good steel case that'll take my WC gear

I thought of an external case for the WC stuff, but that would make transportation impossible.

I am using a chevette radiator and a viaaqua pump, with a smallish reservoir.

Would anyone have any suggestions of a decent-size steel case?

You can still build your own to the specs you need, just dont use wood or acrylic. Thats just my opinion though. Before you decide whether to build or buy head to home depot or Lowes and browse around for possible frame materal and sides etc...

Apparently acrylic burns worse than wood or any other common plastic. At the very least, think of lining any wooden box with metal, and tie all the metal together for good grounding

Have ou checked surplus electronics supplies? They sometimes carry metal equipment boxes of very high quality, with seam welds instead of bends or crimps.

You might want to check out the Coolermaster Stacker. I just bought one and it's an excellent big/roomy case with great options for how you wanna setup your rig. There are a couple of different versions of it. One has room for 2 power supplies. The other has room for only one power supply but has 2 rear 120mm fans for exhaust instead of one.

The Thermaltake Armor is also popular with people

The Silverstone TJ07 is also supposed to be pretty good but also extremely expensive.

CM Stacker - $150-$180
Thermaltake Armor - $150
Silverstone TJ07 - $350

I remember a while back someone built an EXTREMELY nice wooden case. It was a crazy design that actually looked pretty darn good. If you have the time im sure it would be a fun project. Plus you would have all the attention at the local LAN center. haha
