Can bright light damage LCD displays???

If there is constant bright sunlight for a few hours a day on a certain portion of my scree, will I eventually notice a difference in color in those sections? It is also annoying because the light totally blocks the image.

Has anyone tried applying a darkening film to their windows like in cars?
