I'm setting up the new rig with one 320gb barracuda drive.
Started setup and windows recognized it as one 130GB drive.
BIOS says 320GB. Board is asus p5b.
I checked the mobo CD and there are no particular drivers or anything that should be loaded as some extra drivers during setup.

Will I be able to fix it and force XP to recognize it correctly after setup?

Any tips please.

You need at least XP SP1 to recognize drives larger than 137GB in Windows XP, so apparantly your disk is of the original XP release. If you install SP2, since no need to bother with SP1 anymore, after doing your install on the drive, the left over space that will then be recognized will have to be made into a separate partition. If you have another computer to do it with, you can learn to slipstream SP2 into your current version of Windows here to utilize all your drive space on one partition.

I have my old Windows XP installation CD, and after I install it, I just upgrade to SP2.
Thanks for the info.
I will report if everything went ok.
cheers
