I was wondering if you guys suggest mixing hard drive companies or if it really doesn't matter.

I plan on getting a Seagate for storage such as music and that stuff, and a WD raptor for games.

Mixing PATA drives should never be a problem if they're jumpered right or any drive for that matter.

On my rig, I'm running a Seagate and Maxtor in a RAID0. No problems at all!

I did raid 10 with pairs of drives from two manufactures. Oddly it was the first choice drives that failed, NOT because of the configuration though. The WD 2 went on strong, now paired with 2 more WD drives and running 4-->5 years later in my test/toy server.

mixing manufactures can help when one has a bad product generation.
