Hello all I am just looking for an evaluation of the rig I have put together for myself. Any criticism and suggestions are recommended as I am very inexperienced at this. My goal in making this system is to have a powerful machine capable of playing cutting edge games (Think Crysis) for an affordable price. Here is a complete link list to all the parts.

Mostly I am uncertain as to if the motherboard is a logical choice for this rig. Also I chose the case because I read that it was designed with the 8800GTS in mind. But it is quite likely my inexperience is causing me to be $250 for a case I dont need. I dont really care how it looks, I am focusing more on power and affordability. I am looking to not go too much over $1600. I appreciate any assistance in this.

I couldn't agree more. That is indeed a very killer setup. You could even pick up an E6420 over the E6600 if you wanted to save some more cash. They are essentially the same CPU except the E6600 has a 9x multi where as the E6420 has 8x.

To answer your question no I did not pick amd specifically, more out of ignorance :p I will probably just buy the rig you recommended as its put together much more intelligently than mine. Also, what fan would you recommend purchasing to go with the heat sink? Thanks for the help, I really appreciate it.

I would say a good option, staying with fans available from Newegg, is the Scythe SFLEX SFF21F. But they are a bit pricey from Newegg.

You could probably find it a few bucks cheaper elsewhere (around $14-$15)

I wouldn't recommend the SilenX fan. I had some and they push a decent amount of air, but because of the blade design, they are MORE noisy than the SFLEX when they are up against a heatsink. (Or in my case it was a Black ice Pro radiator) And there's much better fans for the price

I would like to shave the cost down a tad so right now Im on the fence between these two cpus

If there is a neglible difference between the two I would like to go with the cheaper one. Also the memory sticks you recommended are much more expensive than the corsair ones. Do you think you could explain a bit to me in what ways they are superior? And if the difference is minor I would probably prefer to go with the cheaper option.

The RAM that I picked will overclock very well (should be like 500Mhz+) But I guess if you go with the E6600 you could go with any DDR2-800 RAM as it won't require a high FSB to overclock it. If you get the E6420 and want to hit 3.4-3.6, you will want RAM that will do 425Mhz-450Mhz. That Corsair RAM is only rated for 333Mhz.

EDIT: oh and as for the difference between the E6600 and E6420... You will probably see a little higher overclocks with the E6600. But if you compared both of them at the same clock speed they should be identical.

I think which proc. you go for depends on how interested you are in OCing. I personally would go for the E6600, which has a proven track record OCing, and will run stock a good deal faster. The E6400 is the budget choice for a lot of OCer's, but my opinion is, it only hurts once to purchase quality. It hurts a lot longer wishin' you had.
