are they NEW? i didn't know NCIX had a US version...

The 8600GTS is around half the speed of an 8800GTS but for half the price it's a great deal.

From the benchmarks I've read, these are about as fast or a little bit faster than the 7900GT's, but the 8600GTS, obviously, also does DX10. Sounds like a great deal for a very nice card. Nice find.

8600GTS is a decent card. In addition to having the newer DX10 and HD technology, it also overclocks okay (got 730/2200 when I tinkered with my BFG 8600GTS). The 128 bit memory may be problematic if you run games at high resolutions. At 1440x900 I'm not having problems running any of the games I own (BF2xxx, CoD2, UT2004 at max everything).

really?? it's on par with a 7900gt?? that's sick!!

i'm assuming it's much less power to run this card, right?

It's a very basic card. Smallish in size for what it actually does. I'm assuming it doesn't draw much power because there's so few capacitors on it.

The 8600 cards are perfect for an HTPC setup, as they have some crazy fast H.264 decoding in hardware (faster than the 8800 series).

So this beats my 7900GS does it?
Not enough to consider an upgrade. I debated with my self about it and since a) there are no DX 10 games out yet and b) the performance difference is small from what I have seen it just is not worth the money to upgrade to an 8600gts from a 7900GS.

My one and a half year old 6800U can run UT2004 at max everything(Thanks again,g0dM@n!).
But it can't overclock that well...
