AMD DC Optimizer

So I just did a fresh install of Vista, and I'm wondering if its safe or even necisary for me to install the AMD Dual-Core Optimizer in Vista. Searched through some threads but didn't really see anything specific about it.

I believe the dual core optimizer was for XP only. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

That was what I thought too, I just wanted to make sure..

The AMD site doesn't specify XP only, but all the MS Hot-Fix pages and this forum thread say XP only. I have not heard of a Vista fix. But then again I'm on XP so Vista news is not at the top of my list

Vista does not need any patches as it was built for single and multicore processors.

Is there a difference in performance at all between the AMD and Microsoft drivers? That may be a dumb question, but I know they're different so I was just curious as to whether there was a difference...

Also, in the link that Thund3erball provided, there's a detailed set of instructions on how to implement the Microsoft hotfix... does the same thing apply for the AMD optimizer? Or do you just need to install the driver?
