I got my father a Sony FZ180E/B laptop for Christmas and was wondering if the HDMI port is configurable for a DVI monitor.
The store has a 7day unopened return policy so I can't try it before I give it to him.
This is my first experience with an HDMI port on a computer, but I'm assuming that it functions like any other nvidia output but I wanted to be sure before I gave it to him.
The chipset is the geforce 8400M GT and I bought an HDMI to DVI adaptor cable to do the job.

it will work unless either the cable, hdmi port, or dvi port is dead. The only negative is that iirc some monitors cant go into power saving mode if hdmi is used on either end.
