Can anyone tell me the best processor to use when using speech recognition in Vista? (I dictate into Microsoft Word in Office 2007.) Which one would give you the lowest latency for the appearance of words dictated on the monitor following speaking? Would a quad core processor make any difference in this application? I have found comparrisons with Sphinx benchmark but not on newer processors? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I don't think the quad would make any difference. Modern CPUs should be more than enough for speech recognition.
Check your CPU usage when you dictate, I doubt it will be high at all.

Yep, I use Dragon 9 for case briefs and it's maybe uses 5% during continuous dictation. The software is the issue, there is still a long way to go before there will be no lag.
