So havent built a comp in a while and just starting again.

Basically, back in teh day you only use the motherboard drivers for the chip. Now nvidia has the chipset drivers on their site, and so does EVGA

(bought an evga 780i)

which to use? from what i hear the evga [and XFX] are just refence boards, so should the standard drivers work? any drawbacks?

if they are both the same version it doesnt matter, just wondering for when new nvida drivers come out, etc.

try them both and see what gives you the best performance. If they give the same performance then I'd say it doesn't matter.

Generally, I like to use the generic nvidia/ati/intel/etc drivers for whatever I can as they generally get updated more frequently.
