ATI is playing hard ball in the mid range GPU market, and I support that decision. As long as ATI gives us awesome price : performance single GPU's, I'll always like 'em.

Crossfire and SLI just need to get better, I know they've progressed a lot, but they are a long way from being rock solid. By which I mean it takes them too long to get drivers working at 100%.

Oh man, now i need a few hundred dollars.

150 for another 3850/512 and a couple hundred for a decent crossfire motherboard.

Not trying to start anything here, but doesn't the 8800GS beat the 3850 for around $110? Ditto on 9600GT/3870 for $140.. Nvidia made them drop the HD series prices, they were way too high..

Have you looked at the 9600GT? Faster and cheaper..

Watch it, you're stepping into troll county...

The 9600 seems to be about $230, where I got my 3850 for $165. And it isn't that much faster either... so bang for buck, it rules the 9600gt. Especially with this price cut.

EDIT: Looks like some 9600s are at around 175 so i was a little wrong. However they are still cheaper and almost as fast.

The 9600 is only faster in specific situations. It's a coin toss most of the time, i'd still choose the ATI card over that 9600GT currently if I purchased again.

Uhm, no. The 9600GT ranges from $140-$150 depending where you buy it.

9600 vs 3870 might be a tossup, but 9600GT vs 3850? 9600 wins. Not trolling, just a fact..
