has anyone checked their dxdiag to see if sp1 shows the direct x version as 10.1?

mine still says dx10 although i do obviously have 10.1 card and sp1! should it say dx10.1?

had no problems at all with the install either if you interested!

It doesn't show up on dxdiag, but if you go into system 32 folder u can see the dx10_1 files are in there :)

If you want to make sure you got DX10.1. Go and download that one demo thats out for 10.1 right now. That should beable to tell you yeah, or neh on it.

does it have to be 8.3s? as i uninstalled them because i got worse fps in all games and if youve read my post in the ati forum youd know im pretty reluctant to try them again now. especially for a demo!

As far as I know, you need the 8.3's as they enable 10.1 support for the card.

If you had trouble with the drivers, don't reinstall them. No games I know of have any 10.1 features right now anyway.

I, on the other hand, have the 8.3's and love them. Very quick and nice. :)

What about nvidia? I tried to download the demo but i keep getting errors when tring to download. has anyone got this to work?

Yep, however how does 10.1 look on the ATI cards? Can you tell a difference?

It doesn't make a difference as is since so few even utilize DX10 game wise. It will be still at least another year before we start seeing "decent" DX10 titles I'd say and maybe then we might start seeing DX10.1 titles.

The difference is that it adds a new lighting effect. The effect is pretty neat and it doesn't really seem to hurt the performance. Basically when light hits a source, it adds the dynamic coloring of the object on everything else.

Doesn't work on Nvidia because Nvidia doesn't have 10.1 support.

vixro can you paste your dxdiag to pastebin.com?

I can't get this thing to work and I'm just trying to make sure SP1 and DX10.1 installed right.

Did you make sure that you had Catalyst 8.3 and the latest directx update from microsoft's website? (in addition to the service pack directx)

The 8.3 drivers are what unlock the 10.1 potential. The directx version on DXDIAG is still listed as 10. But you can check the DDI version within the display devices.

Yeah, I have Direct X March 2008 redistributable and SDK and Catalyst 8.3 drivers. It says in the sushi log it is unable to load Physics plugin.

Wont see dx10.1 games at all until nVidia starts making cards for it is my guess.

This will really help out ATIs AA performance in DX10 games once designers start patching existing titles to use 10.1 :) ( multi-sample buffer reads and writes FTW)
