Just wondering if anyone can help with my overclock, I've been messing around with this for some time and got it to 3.6, but its not stable using orthosx2 it usually fails a couple minutes in. I have the fsb set at 1.5, cpu at 1.475 what do it try to make this stable. the others are at 1.4 and 1.575, temps have not went above 58, also on air.

:welcome: to the forums. The 680I is an odd creature as I've found. What does the rest of your system look like? What components are you running?

q6600, 680i, ocz sli memory 4-4-4-15 t1 @ 800, 700 watt psu, evga 8800gt sc, cooler master cosmos, 160cfm intake and 160cfm exhaust, zalman 9700, and zalman vf1000, no cables in the mobo area to obstruct air flow.

My Q6600 needed 1.575 Vcore on my 680i to do 3.6.....But Im on water....I don't see how you would go that high on air cooling though...I also question if your 58 temp reading is accurate....what program are you using to read temps?

I'm assuming its a GO core?

Here are all my voltages..

24/7 Settings @ 400 x 9 = 3600Mhz CPU:
CPU Core = 1.575
CPU FSB = 1.5
Memory = 2.2 (2 x 1024mb sticks @ 800Mhz w/ 4,4,4,12,1T)
SPP Volts = 1.500
MCP Volts = Auto
nVidia HT = 1.300

I am using core temp, nvidia monitor, real temp, and intel TAT, speed fan, I take the highest reading from any of the following and use that as my temp, they are all with in a few degrees except speed fan on the cores which is alot lower

Then I would say your temps are fine.....keep playing with it and see where you end up......I had one Q6600 GO that would not do 3.6 no matter what I tried..I sold it and got another one that did 3.6 without a problem....

I also have 2 Q6700's...one runs all day at 3.6, one wont go past 3.2....Its a crapshoot with these chips....

maybe i will water cool my systems in the future just for the cool factor and hey added performance

I just upgraded to a evga 780i, and have my q6600 oc to 3.6 at 1.5vcore. Max temp I have seen is 65c, but I also have a TRUE 120 extreme now.

Nice pun..:)
Water is nice, but there are quite a few air coolers that are pretty damn good these days

Not to hijack....but how do you like the 780i as compared to the 680i?
