FINLAND. EVERYTHING IS EXPENSIVE HERE.
I'm gonna put my old 3870 up folding, but with a lack of coolers, I'm gonna have to go without any RAMsinks. I'm not worried about the folding, as that isn't gonna use the RAM, but when I occasionally have a mate over to play a game, will the RAM burn up? It's the GDDR4 version, and it's gonna have quite a lot of airflow over the RAM.

depends on what ramsinks your planing to use, some pure copper ones are much better than those blue zalman ones
all in all though, i was under the impression that ram sinks were not really a huge factor in lowering temps

RAM sinks are mostly personal preferance. I have never felt the need to use them and currently watercool my 4870 without them.
