I realized today that a lot of the dvd's I backed up to divx before I moved have both french and english tracks integrated into the file. VLC runs them fine, which is why I never noticed, but stand alone players and windows media player want to play both tracks simultaneously.

What is the best current software for removing an audio track without re-encoding?

VirtualDubMod.

Open video > Streams > Stream list > select the stream you don't want and hit the Disable button > OK > File > Save As > save it wherever and with whatever name and MAKE SURE Video mode = Direct stream copy! > Save.

Done.

Sweet! Will this remove the audio from the file or just disable it? (Will the file get smaller?)
