Im wanting to know if i would notice a performance change from going to a 5850 from 2 Sapphire 1gb 4870s in xfire.

From what im reading its about the same performance. I was going ot trade 2 of them for one 5850

my 4870s are at 800/1000 and the 5850 is 725/1000 stock

Any input be good.

Seems the 5850 beats the 4890 1 on 1. I ask as i have a broken PCIe slot on mobo and cant run xfire anymore. So i was gonna upgrade to one 5850 for the 2 4870s ins Xfire.

Well that's not what you asked ;)

Yes, a single 5850 is faster than a single 4870.

I mis typed what i asked. I wanted to trade the 2 5850 since i only can use 1 4870s now. And will CF 5850 later on when i get a new mobo with a working pcie slot for xfire. I had CF on my mind and meant 1 on 1.

Any one know why NEwegg is no longer gonan carry the Sapphire 5870s.

Im selling my sapphire 4870s to get a sapphire 5870 but their not carrying them now. Any ideas.

they seem to be dropping cards and then re-adding them. I was looking at the xfx 5870, they removed it, re-added it, and now it's gone again. Probably getting to many auto-notifies so they just remove it and that removes the auto-notifies...

Gotch ya. This is gonna suck being out of a computer trying to order one with them going in and out of stock. Once my 4870s sell then im stuck on a POS lol

The big thing with the 5800 series is power consumption, not performance. Don't waste the money on upgrading current systems. it's mainly for new systems. Allows consumers to save money on the PSU, just look at the release date. The big performance jump is going to be the 5890x2 (no press release, but think about it). I see the potential release around early summer 2010.

especially considering they've problably uncovered something special researching the 4890x2 4GB card.

The 5870 hands down beats a CF 4870. And beings i only have one working pcie slot as of right now im just getting one 5870 for now so later when i get new motherboard i can CF them.

the 5870 has way better performance over the 4870/90 and uses less power

Thought they were coming out on Wednesday? And its not the 5890X2 its the 5970 which is a 5850X2 basically.
nm was posted on FUD. Keep an eye out might appear on Wednesday or might not.

Newegg has problems with supply due to a manufacturer issue. http://www.ocforums.com/showpost.php?p=6304126&postcount=79
Just be patient and check Newegg often. I have the HD 5770 I want in a wishlist. I look at the wishlist and it shows me the expected in stock date. Its currently in stock, but that could change before I have the funds to order it.
