Record streaming videos?

Is there a way to record streaming videos from a flash player on a site that Im watching?

Also something Im wondering if it is possible to use my xbox to stream video from any site I want, like say a embedded flash video in my browser from my PC to the Xbox so I can display it on my tv. Am I asking the impossible, or is there simply a easier way.

Vlc can record video from a stream. If you get the .flv file or whatever the flash file is that the site it using, open it in vlc and then tell vlc to save it, you can save it into one of many formats.
