My HTPC rig said Array critical on my 2x 500GB Western Digital drives.

In the RAID BIOS it shows that 1 of the drives is '??? failed or disconnected...'
but when I go to drive assignment it shows the 500GB drive available.

I checked it on my laptop via USB and it works fine all files still intact.

What the heck?

Any ideas?

Let me guess, RAID array using consumer drives?

The array is probably stating critical because there was an error and a drive DCed as bad but rebuilt itself.

It is becoming more and more of an issue as drives and arrays get larger. Consumer drives spend way too long trying to recover from an error and can time out triggering a faulty array notice.
