power switch

I just got a spst lock switch from radio shack its the one you use a key. my prob. is when you turn it on the computer comes on for only a couple of sec. then shuts off.does anyone know what the prob. could be?

Yes I do. The computer's switch is meant to be a momentary switch. It's only connected while you are pushing the button.
They key switch sounds like it's holding the connection, thus it's recycling the power button contsantly....it's like turning the computer on, then holding the power button to turn it back off.

If you can, turn the key to on for a second, then turn it back off...this will leave the computer running.
