Back around 2002 (before the existance of Onlive or Gaikai), I remember subscribing to a PC game rental service but I don't remember the name. The service probably doesn't exist anymore but you pay $20 a month and you get unlimited access to rent PC games from a huge catalog.

Basically, you download core game files into your PC about 100-500MB in size. Then the rest of the files are "streamed into your computer" so you didn't have to have a physical copy of a CD or disc to play your games.

Does anyone remember the name?

My first thought was Kali, but that was just a multiplayer matching network IIRC, not a distribution service. The only "rental" service I can think of is GameTap, but Wikipedia says they didn't start until 2005.
