hey all.
its been years since i was on here. gave up on PC gaming for a bit for the PS3 and Xbox but BF3 just doesn't feel right on a controller. So i'm making some upgrade to me outdated system which is in my Sig, the only difference being that I'm using an ATI 5700 series GPU instead of my 8800 GTS.
I want to semi-future proff my system but I'm on a limited budget. so below is what I have searched for and might get but I want some advise. I'm not an OC'er but I might try it on the new system, i actually just recently OC'd my current setup but I don't think I did it well because my PC has crashed quite a few times and some times it won't boot up and gets stuck at "starting windows" for hours. anyway please let me know what you all think and if it's a good enough upgrade for BF3 and BF4 in the future. I plan on going CF or SLI but for now one GPU is fine.

1.ASRock 970 EXTREME3 AM3+ AMD 970 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard
2.SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 7770 GHz Edition OC 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready Video Card (11201-02-20G)
3.COOLMAX CXI-600B 600W ATX12V ATX 12V v2.2 SLI Certified / CrossFire Ready and Compatible with Core i3/i5/i7 Power Supply
4.AMD FX-4170 Zambezi 4.2GHz (4.3GHz Turbo) Socket AM3+ 125W Quad-Core Desktop Processor FD4170FRGUBOX
5.G.SKILL Sniper Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 (PC3 14900) Desktop Memory Model F3-14900CL9D-8GBSR

Exactly what PSU is currently in your machine? You might not have to upgrade that. The Coolmax is definitely not a good unit...but the Kingwin you already have might be.

The 650Ti is a much better card for the price than the 7770.

I'd also see if you can upgrade to a FX6300 instead of the 4170, it's a much better processor (different architecture).

I did see the Vishera but I wasn't sure if to get it since It is a 6-core CPU didn't think i really needed it. as for the PSU i have the same one that's in my SIG which is the Kingwin. So without needing to get a new PSU you just lowered the total price to right under $400 (excluding shipping/tax) which is what I was shooting for. As for the GPU, It always so hard to choose one lol.
I'll do a little more research but thanks for the suggestions! more are also welcome!!

KINGWIN ABT-600MM 600W ATX 12V Ver2.2 SLI Ready CrossFire

thats it.

95W CPU + 110W GPU + 40W for everything else = 240W load on the 12V rail. The CX430 has 384W on the 12V rail, so you're more than good on stock, and have a fair bit of room for overclocking.

Awesome. I appreciate it very much. I'll see when I get the upgrade and report back. Thanks again and Merry Christmas!!!

So i've narrowed down my build to an intel setup and one amd setup. the amd one i like because there's the possibility that down the road i'll be able to upgrade to a Steamroller (i think that's the next-gen)w/o having to switch MB. now the Intel build I like because despite being a Dual Core CPU it's on par with the 6-Core AMD CPU and also provides me a slightly better GPU. I'm not real big on OC'ing but i'd be more inclined to do it on the AMD than the Intel simply because of the experience I've had with my E6600 that i tried to OC and almost bricked. that being said I know this intel is HT capable so I'll take advantage of that, and Intel just works, if you get what I mean. my intention is also to purchase a 2nd GPU in about a month or two along with a more powerful and reliable PSU. anyway here are the set ups; please let me know what you think as I will likely be making my purchase tonight!!! woot.
Again Thank You for all your help.
