So I bought an msi amd radeon hd 7770 Ghz edition and I want to overclock it. Yes I am a noob at overclocking so cut me some slack. I've overclocked before though I'm not sure how much this GPU can handle it. The core clock is at 1000Mhz and I want to know if i can boost it to atleast 1200 with the fan on 100%. Can you guys give me an estimate ? Thanks

To start, read some reviews of the card and their overclocking results, such as:

To test for a stable OC, you always start low, say 1050mhz, and run stress testing tools such as 3DMark and Furmark to test for stability. Then gradually bump up the clock, say 15mhz at a time till it becomes unstable.

Note that all cards are different, so no one can really give you an accurate estimate. But glancing through the links above, I'd say that 1200mhz, which is a 20% OC, is rather high for this card. You'd most likely need a voltage bump too if you can achieve it. Keep in mind that performance gains from OCing cards at this level are usually very limited. IMO it's not worth it to push it too far.
