I keep reading that I should disable ACPI.

However when I go into bios ther is not
"Disable ACPI here" setting.

What is the Bios Code word? Is it the PNP OS Installed? one or the Force ECSD Clear?

How do I disable ACPI?

Let me see how froggy I feel when I check out the BIOS editor ...

Does it really help that much? Should I re-install XP in order to get the full benefit?

Actually the experience I've had playing around at the computer shop is that when ACPI was disabled on WinXP/HOME/PRO I would get problems of it not shutting down. On '98SE it would free up the IRQs but nothing really noticable if you have no issues with it.

Thanx for the info, it won't hurt me to re-install XP, since I'm sill in the testing phase, so I might see how it does without ACPI, i'll let you know if I test it.
