I've got a few questions regarding cooling.

I know we need to keep every thing cool for reliablity, but how
does temperture affect the required cpu volts for a given fsb?
Will a colder system allow a lower voltage?
I need 1.95 v (in bios) to run Prime95 @ 133fsb with no errors but my temps are very high...55deg. System much
happyier @ 128fsb and 1.775v.
Anyone done any testing on this subject?

Thanks..........Maxwedge:cool:

No formal testing, but I have seen a definite relationship all around:
At lower temps I can run the same overclock/high fsb with lower voltages, or get more oc at the same volts (up to the limits of the system)

My foray into water chillers got me briefly up to 1780mhz with a 17c cpu temp; same voltage is needed to run at 1753mhz with a 35c temp.

Thanks for you're reply rogerdugans. Anybody else have any
thoughts on this subject?

I'm gonna try and do some testing this wed and thur....
I have 10k btu home a/c unit that I will duct into the side
of my open case..I'll try and post some results. I have done
some temp readings with this and it drops the cpu temp down
to 28 C at full load, but I have'nt tryed overclocking with less volts.

The voltage haves to to with the right suply of juice for your CPU .
The lower temps does not effect this factor .

My personal target is to OC at the point that the standard core voltage is enough .
I do not clock the CPU at higher points that it needs more voltage ,by this way i get some good performance with the lower possible temps .

That seems like a good philosophy Kiriakos, all though I like
to go a little further than that and still keep my temps and
voltages reasonable. I'm still gonna do some testing just for
the heck of it though.....Thanks.

Well , if the target is the low temps,my philosophy is like one way road .

To be honest , there is no any practical gain in the moder CPUs ,if you kill them in OC .
Games !! Well OC your video card for that :D
