Onboard is horrible. It is very slow, and decreases performance. You can't possibly upgrade because it's onboard, the only way to upgrade is to actually buy a new video card!
and mobo, if your board doesn't have an agp slot. i have a friend in the same situation. he managed to wind up with a dell, this christmas and now has to get a new mobo and vid card. i can't believe they put out new comps that can't even run all the current games.
he was, however, able to allocate more shared memory to the graphics in his bios. apparently that sped things up, considerably.
