2000 repair question

this system had an upgrsde instesd of a clean install. (98 to 2k)
its had weied issues since...if i run a repair reinstall, will it lose my settings? (background, start menu, desktop files, ect? i'd like to know

All of your personal settings should remain unaffected, you will however need to re-download all service packs and updates and reapply them.

In the future I would suggest a backup of all critical files and fresh install of your OS of choice.

thanks, i jsut wanted to make sure that the stuff would still be there, i hate hunting stuff down.

redoing the updates wont be a problem, and a full backup fresh install will be done in a few months...i'm just looking for a quick bandaid
