For whatever its worth, I'm a 4040 owner, it's a decent GPS but if I had it to do over I wouldn't have bought a Magellan. They're slow with updates and their service sucks from what I hear. I haven't had too many issues with mine other than it has some quirks I had to adjust to and the maps were already out of date when I got it and the 08-09 maps are big bucks. I'd imagine you can't get the free map updates for a purchase of a refurb, they were giving them out for purchases of older units for a while, if you CAN get the map update then this deal becomes a lot hotter. The 4.3" screen is nice, personally I like TTS too much to buy a unit without it though.
