i got a mole about 2 months back that keeps regenerating itself once i get the rig cleaned out. it started with a trojan back door and morphed into a aware season mole. (dont tell me how, but it did). i have tried every way: adware/ spybot/hijak this cwshredder/spybot search and destroy/no adware spyware dr/ and last but not least norton. like i said i can clean it out and surf for awhile, then it regenerates and takes over my homepage and redirects me to anothers site trying to sell adware antivirus. sometimes to porn sites also.. funny thing is that it is hooked into norton somehow and when i use it i get popups and redirected sites..
Im sick of it so im gonna reformat and reload everthing tommorrow. but i was thinking that if anyone wants to hook up with my rigg thru windows xp and see if they can fix this mess (a challenge to some) they are welcome. plus ill give a 25.00 bonus for their hassle... i trust this forum and i know the guys here are very ethical cause i wouldnt even think of doing this anywhere else.. flapperhead with a zombie rig....

A bit more info is needed, for instance, are AdAware and Spybot both detecting something, but are unable to remove it? You ran both versions, with updated definitions, in safe mode? You cleared out all your temp files? Basically what I'm trying to say is, did you follow the two spyware stickies?

If you've done all that, and are still having problems, that's one helluva problem. Post a new hijackthis log for starters. Reformatting is always a last resort, but sometimes - especially when you have had active trojans - it's the best bet.

This sticky has some great steps for removing entrenched adware. You mention that it keeps coming back, have you disabled system restore? That's probably the most common way for malware to survive a cleaning.

the malware is intertwined into some of the operating systems (norton for 1) i have done all of the above.. they remove the extraneous malware but cant find the root that keeps regenerating the malware. in fact ive already checked with imog.(smart dude) he couldnt get into my comp at work.. his firewall was preventing it..i just figured id post this thread if anyone felt like they could fix it, and was an expert at this kind of mess.
cause tommorow everything gets deleted...

while checking out ur suggestions(good ideas) i got another popup session last nite and went ballistic. i wiped out the hd. just couldnt take it. thnx alot for ur help and input.. mike
