I am off to college in a few months, would like to downsize from my custom water loop even though I love it.

One part of it is a new case, I'm downsizing to a mid-tower.

What would you recommend for a cooler, whether is a air or a closed-loop water for a mid-tower case?

i7 3930k, Rampage IV Formula

Case is undecided atm.

corsair makes decent closed loop systems, even pretty cheaply. do you know the case you're going to get as some air coolers are just too damn tall to fit.

Also, what price range are you looking for, overclocking, etc? Kinda need more info to narrow down what your'e looking for but here's a few links to get you started for great value:

not Ocing much dont' mind a little noise:

air ocing and don't mind noise while gaming:

water all in one:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835181035 (might fit a bit strange unless yoru case has 140mm fan but you can run its low cfm fans an OC "all the way up" as an idiot at radioshack once said to me while (not) buying a soldering iron)

It depends what case you get, as to what cooling setup can fit.

Cart before the horse still guys... :)

Great selections, without a doubt, but we need to know what case he chooses so we know what cooler fits!

The Arc Midi is a solid case...I think there are cheaper sources than Newegg though.

The Phanteks dual stack generally beats the NH-D14.

I have a $90 NewEgg gift card, and the Phantek I don't see being any cheaper. I got the NH-D14(2011 Socket Version) off Amazon for $75.

The case has 2x140mm on the front and top, then a 120mm in the back. It only comes with two 140mm fans, is it worth ordering two more for extra flow?

I would fill it with fans, more airflow is better. Just make sure you get some that will run quietly.

If you want it really quiet, drop some money on a good fan controller and some PWM fans.

I use 3x 140mm intakes and no exhaust fans.. but my intakes are cooler fans so will push the air out.
