so, july is half way over and i'm just getting around to this. I decided to skip the poll for this month to save some time. I made an executive decision to go with Haiku this month because I was just reading an article on BeOS and it sparked my interest. So, without further a-do...

::::: Please post questions, reviews, comparisons to other OS's, etc in this thread :::::

July's AOSOTM is:

Haiku

Haiku is an open source operating system currently in development designed from the ground up for desktop computing. Inspired by the Be Operating System, Haiku aims to provide users of all levels with a personal computing experience that is simple yet powerful, and void of any unnecessary complexities. - http://haiku-os.org/about

Past AOSOTM:
June 2007: OpenSolaris
May 2007: PC-BSD
April 2007: Minix3
March 2007: ReactOS
February 2007: Debian Etch
January 2007: FreeBSD 6.1-Release
December 2006: Gentoo 2006.1

ah that makes it easier its just the vmware image to start with opposed to downloading the CD image and having to install it..

yeah i meant to get the qemu image up and running last night but i couldn't find the time. hopefully tonight.

i downloaded the qemu image last night and played with it very breifly. seemed very responsive with 512mb ram devoted to it, but I didn't get to do much browsing around. tonight I should be able to spend some more time in it.

hmm, ive just had a quick play with haiku on vmware.. i cant get on with it, nothing is where i expect it to be etc... and the terminal is weird... uses 'dir' instead of 'ls' for example... I like this idea of testing OS for OTM tho... first one ive tryed and ive enjoyed doing it.. far easier in vmware than reformatting like i thought i might have to.. I used 512mb ram for haiku and it was reasonbly responsive slightly sluggish, but thats probably my LOW powered pc....
