hi everyone, i was wondering what the fastest chipset for a 3.4 gig socket 478 prescott is.
i originaly bought an A-open ax4spe-un mobo with an intel 865pe chipset and found out that it will only support prescott chips at 3ghz and lower,
here it is,
http://global.aopen.com.tw/Products/mb/ax4spe-un;ax4spe-un(p).htm
so i bought an asus p4s800d-x mobo with a sis 655fx chipset,
here it is,
http://usa.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=3&l2=12&l3=45&model=407&modelmenu=1
i ended up putting an old 533 fsb celeron D 3.06 ghz 256 kb L2 cache in the A-open mobo and oced it to 3.54 ghz (150 mhz fsb)
i put my 3.4 gig p4 prescott 1mb L2 cache with hyperthreading in the asus mobo and oced it to 4 ghz (235 mhz fsb)
both mobos have 1 gig of pc3200 (2x 512 per mobo) in dual channel and the 3.4 gig has hyperthreading. i set the performance boost on the A-open to turbo and the performance boost on the asus is set to agressive.
in other words, i have both systems running as fast as they possibly can and still be stable at factory voltages.
my problem is that my A-open running a celeron D at 3.54 ghz is WAY faster with all the rest of the parts the same than the asus with the 3.4 prescott with hyperthreading!!!
i have been trying to figure out what chipset and mobo is fastest for socket 478 prescott chips.
if anyone can help me out, i sure would apriciate it!!
thank you,
Denny
