Asus A7N8X Deluxe - Pata / Sata Raid

Hi. New here!! Building a pc from parts -

Asus A7N8X Deluxe
Athlon 2200+ CPU 1.9GHz
FSB = 400MHz / CPU Freq = 200MHz / CPU Multiplier = 9.5
2GB GSkill DDR ram 400MHz
Onboard: Has 2 Firewire connectors / 2 SATA connectors


Is there anyway to run a Raid PATA PCI 133 card and Raid Sata via Asus A7N8x Deluxe MB? - seperate raids.

Earlier, bought 2 WD 500GB HDD + Koutech PCI 133 Raid card to setup Raid 1 - Found this works only when A7N8x Deluxe MB Sata is jumpered off. Didn't know board was A7N8X Deluxe board. That it had Sata. Checked it visually: saw SataLink chip. Must be more than A7N8X board!!

Testing:

1. Koutech PCI 133 Raid card to setup Raid 1 works only when Sata is jumpered off.

2. Taking out Koutech Pata Raid card + jumpering on Sata, when booting, PC sees Sata controller, reports no Sata drives, and boots into Primary IDE Pata drive XPPro ok.

3. If I have the Koutech Raid Card installed, with Sata jumpered on - boot sees the Raid Card, then sees Asus onboard Sata Raid - and hangs and doesn't boot into XPPro. This happens even after uninstalling the Sata Raid Conroller driver then booting PC.

I've got a slightly newer ASUS board (s939) and it has options to run SATA without RAID - or do you need the second RAID array?

Took the plunge - upgraded A7N8X Deluxe Bios to 1008D. Now BIOS can choose SCCi/SATA or SATA SCCI. Set it to: SCSSI/SATA. Boot sees PCI PATA Raid1, then SATA Raid - No Drives, then boots into XPPro off HHD0 on Primary IDE. Used Asus Windows Uitlity to flash Bios on desktop that was already downloaded fom Asus FTP site.
