Ok my in-laws are looking at getting something to basically upgrade/replace there old old pc they have. Not fully but at least have some flexability in things. Mobility, and also have the capabilites of a PC to some extent.

Originally it was a netbook, then was a laptop, then looked at the Xoom tablet. Well they've gone a step further and I was quiet suprised. This is what they are eyeing up.

12.1" Screen, 4Gigs memory, 64Gig SSD, Honeycomb 3.1 and Win 7...
Yeah can't complain about those specs at all. As well comes with a wireless keyboard I guess.

Has anyone heard or seen anything about this? At first I thought it was the Asus Transformer, but its something more. Looks good spec wise and think it would fit there needs very very well.

Few more links...

I was thinking that route too, but still too pricey for the experience. I just picked up an Asus duel core netbook, and installed a 120GB SSD and called it a day. whole project cost under $500 including the external DVD writer. And I'm very happy with it. really can't wait for google to release a netbook specific android OS.

IMO, that thing is way too pricey. You could get the Asus Transformer to have your Honeycomb tablet for $400 and have $700 to spend on a pretty nice laptop or netbook.

Yeah pricey I know but they rarely upgrade. Its been years since they have (8 years). Didn't even think you could do a laptop and tablet. at that price point.

They might of already purchased this but we'll see if I might be able to stear in a new direction. Big one for them and has always been is instore purchases only... they rarely get something online sadly :/

If they are NOT computer savvy at all then please by all means go the slate route, or even an iPad. These have become far more simple to use interfaces, and obviously most everyone here is comfortable using traditional OS's, however for those who don't use them on a regular basis, the icon/picture based OS's on tablets are a FANTASTIC option.

Yeah tried getting them to go just an android tablet with wifi since it was cheaper but she wants to do some work on it sometimes (not alot) and basic things like that. There home PC is in the range of OLD (7-8 years) so upgrade is nice.

I believe they are going with it.
