I'm interested in this as well. I grabbed a couple of $10 copies of BF2 for the house rigs, and the roommate and I would like to have to respectable people to play with. I also have 2142, but am a n00b with both of them.

I think BF2 was short lived thanks to EA. it had all the right elements but when 2142 came out, it lost the spotlight to a mediocre game.

BF2 is still pretty popular. According to this website, there are currently over 13,000 people playing RIGHT NOW....not bad for the early afternoon on a weekday in a 4 year old game....

EA has promised a patch(no really this time hopefully), though it looks like mostly just another map.
