Best video streaming capture software?

I have a client that purchased an on-line exclusive TV package from CBS. He is an avid fan of F1 to the point that he has a '60's era racer that he is rebuilding. The question is that he wants to be able to record races as he streams them so that he can watch them again or when he has time. This is a "fair use" situation not a bootleg one. There seems to be a lot of different ones and most are geared to capturing gaming sessions. What I'm looking for would be simple to use and would capture his screen and audio. Camtasia seems to show up on different review sites but it maynot be the best choice. Hence the call for help.

Any ideas?

Apower Rec gets good reviews from this year, and has a lifetime fee with upgrades of ~$70.
There are numerous choices, too many to even think about. They also have a trial version too and it's totally crossplatform which is nice.

Elgato is the one I use in church. Captures from HDMI source. Seems decent.
