Yea, I was greedy and got a 8800gts before upgrading to c2d....results...

3dmark 06
5859 at 2.66 and stock gts
7154 at 3.46 and stock gts...1300pts with just a .8 cpu rise....bottleneck
8107 at 3.80 and 640/960 gts.....c2d should pick me up 1500-2000pts.

Thoughts?

Don't worry 6300 c2d and gigabyte p965-ds3 should be here tuesday....

While I'm sure that the CPU is a bottleneck for the GPU, do you have the numbers for the SM2 and SM3 tests, to compare the actual GPU performance as the CPU speed increases?

Just purchased the full version....ran at my typical 3.6 and 640/975

I'm fixing to re-boot and try at stock...2.66 and stock gts speeds

With stock 2.66 805d and 640/975 gts

decided to leave the gts where it was just to compare cpu speed.

thats definetly a bottleneck there...

with my e6600 @ stock and gts @ stock i would pull bout 8300 in 06... with the e6600 @ 3.0ghz (25% and with a 8% UNDERVOLT) and gts @ stock i gained about 600 pts... for 8900

Just tried to run 06 at 1680/1050 with aa at 4X to compare fps at a higher video resolution to see if I could get rid of some of the cpu bottleneck....but she locked up in the forest at the 640/975...I guess I need to turn her down a little...I usually game at 600/900 with no probs....I will mess with this some more tomorrow..kind of late now.

Have fun.

Try to lower the core a little, I was stable for most apps. at 660/2000, but for full stability I had lower it too 630/2000.
