I don't think the 6600 is a good upgrade over the 6200. Especially when you can OC the 6200 you currently have and could unlock the 4 extra pipelines. They seem to overclock very well for such cheap cards.

I unlocked mine but my card is a dud basically it wont unlock and overclock as far as you may think i believe my thing was turbocached thats wwhy :(

I still do not think a 6600 is a good upgrade from a 6200. I would save up your money and make the upgrade more worthwhile.

You can also get the OEM but the heatsink is worth $5.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822140152 Maxtor 200gb 16mb IDE hard drive - $108 - this is a very fast drive, you can probably swap it out with your own and get a nice improvment.

That comes to $500. Did I forget anything? You can also get an SN95G5 for $30 more and put a 3000+ venice in there, or perhaps an SN25P, but that would put you out of budget.

I figured a Semperon would be better since its better than a Celeron and Under an Athlon 64...So shell have decent speeds and just incase the son starts to play games the comp is just the right speed
