Looking to do another budget build, maybe $600 or less if possible, below are my current specs of the PC I am running now and have been very happy with, just looking to build something on the side for fun really, any thoughts or suggestions on some hardware? I can do the legwork once I have a good idea of what's "hot" and fairly inexpensive right now, I do game but nothing serious. I would like to go SSD maybe for my games drive and NVMe for my OS, however I do realize that may be out of my price range right now. Thanks as always.

Mobo: Z170A SLI Plus
CPU: i7-6700K 4.00GHz
Memory: Kingston HyperX FURY Black 8GB 2133MHz DDR4
GPU: Radeon RX 580 8GB
Power Supply: EVGA 600 B1, 80+ BRONZE 600W

If you went with a 3700x, new MB and some RAM you would see some increase but is it worth it. What will you be doing with it?

You'd be looking @ roughly:

$300 CPU
$100-150 for MB
$80ish for 16GB RAM
$100 for NVME

The above are super rough numbers.

Maybe just add NVME to your current system and wait for next gen Ryzen?

What do you want the "fun" system "on the side" to do that your current build doesn't do well? The current build seems adequate for light gaming.

I will be gifting my current build to my daughter for light gaming and basic schooling needs.

This is about the best I can do. Unfortunately, of late, component prices are higher than they typically are due mostly to pandemic related supply chain issues and maybe tension with China.

How does that GPU compare to my current RX 580? Also I could use my case and PSU to save some cash?

The GPU I listed is about even steven with the Rx580.

Tell me about your current case and PSU. If the current PSU is providing enough power to cover the demands of the Rx580 then it should be more than enough for the 5500XT.

Here's an Intel/nVidia alternative with a better GPU:

The GTX 1660 Super is roughly 33% faster than the RX 5500 XT and RX 570. The RX 5500 XT and RX 570 are just about equal.

Good stuff, I am not familiar with that i5 model, how does that compare with the i7 in my current build?

Two more cores and two more threads than your current i7. Slower base frequency but slightly higher max turbo boost. Plus, each core of the newer i7 will move more data at the same clock frequency. The CPU DaveB suggested is aimed at budget gamers.

I do like the Intel\nVidia build, as requested, below are my spare case and PSU specs, is there a budget nvme option I could use for my OS?

Case: Rosewill TYRFING ATX Mid Tower
PSU: EVGA 600 B1, 80+ BRONZE 600W

That 600W ran my current build for a long time, I only replaced because I thought it was having issues, turned out it was something else, so that PSU is still 100% operational.

The case is budget for sure, but I suspect it will suffice.
