Mint 6
EXT3 partitions across the board
Epox 9npa NON SLI.
8800gts 320
Corsair 650tx
2x 250gb PATA
1x 160gb SATA
1x 500gb SATA
3x 320gb SATA
USB Dvd Drive

System boots to live cd, installer runs and says all is well.

Reboot system, "disk not found" Never gets to Gnome at all.

The above ONLY happens if I try to run SATA AND PATA together. If I run either or, no issues, if I run both connected I get variations of the above error at boot.

XP, 7, and 2k all install with no issue with this setup.

Ideas? Suggestions?

I believe what is happening is that PATA automatically take priority over SATA which means that grub is getting confused

"disk not found" is not a accurate error description

More info needed:
- exact error and when it exactly happens
- BIOS settings as which disk is 0x80 and therefore bootable
- where is grub stage 0 installed (which MBR)
- possibly contents of menu.lst

Disk not found is the EXACT error.

I am trying now with 7.04 Alt Install to see what happens.

/
/boot
/swap
all on 1st 250gb PATA
/home
on second 250gb PATA
160gb SATA is a shared drive
500gb SATA is a shared drive
160 & 500 are both just formatted ext3 with /shared and /storage as the name
the 3x 320gb drives are NOT formatted.

I asked other things too. Some (default) MBRs have this "Disk not found" message, which would mean what grub thinks is the bootable disk and what your BIOS thinks are different. But to know for certain you have to give the info I asked about. File system layout is not something I asked.
