Can I plug in a cathode light into a open fan slot?

Could I do that or would that be bad, they both look like the same hookup, small 3 pin.

depends on the draw of the cathode.. a fan header should be able to handle up to 12v give or take.. of course its better to try to use a molex to small pin connector if you can..

As far as i know, lights use less power than fans. So the power consumption problem is taken care of. If the light says 12v anywhere on it your good.

Some reson it didnt work. I dont think that fan slot is on maybe? Who knows. But it didnt power up.

you need a CCFL inverter for cold cathodes, they will not work without one,
