Hello all,

I'm just about ready to put my order in with newegg. I'd like some feedback from people on my selections if possible.

I'm not open in any way to spending any more money so please don't suggest I spend extra on this or that! I'm over my original budget as it is! However if you know of something that will give me the same or similar performance for a lesser price I'm all ears! That goes for a better rice from a different supplier too, or if you think I could do with less oomph here in favor of more elsewhere.

Thank you!

You could do with less "Intel oomph" and replace the CPU with AMD Phenom II x3 720, add some quality to motherboard, get a Gigabyte GA-MA790X-UD4P, shave a bit off the graphics card's price by getting a
SAPPHIRE 100259-1GL Radeon HD 4870 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card - Retail
or then add a bit oomph to the card;
XFX HD-489A-ZDEC Radeon HD 4890 Xtreme 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card - Retail
RAM, change to
G.SKILL PI Black 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Retail
faster for less money

at 1080p in gaming it wont matter if you choose a the x3 or the intel dual core. the ram as suggested by Bg does imo need to be changed. cas5 at DDR2-800 is a killer when DDR2-800 cas4 is cheaper from another brand. Consider getting the 320gig RE3 instead or get the 250gig RE3. The psu needs to go, sorry but that one didnt make the suggest psu list.

the main thing i think we need to know is where do you plan to buy from. cause from the way the parts are listed im inclined to think you were looking at newegg.com.

Yes newegg is the place. I'll be ordering ast some point over the weekend so I'm open to suggestions for a couple of days!

ok well, i would only get the RE3 drive but its now OOS. i would take this drive instead, then go with this cpu, then this motherboard, then get this ram. for those 4 parts that comes out to $357 vs the 4 you choose at $370. then go for this psu or this one or this one. now you still have some $$ to play with you can either get a better HSF for the cpu or better video card but the 4870 is a killer deal.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm seriously considering the AMD now. Will def change the RAM too.

Might be because it's so new it hasn't made it for any tests yet. The Fatal1ty line is very close to what PC Power & Cooling is, so I don't see any problems using them. Just my 0.02 monetary units tho.
then get this ram.
Why? The PI Blacks are the same as those, but have free shipping. Why get the HKs?

price has some kind of reflection of quality. though you can find delta based psu's being used in Antec EA line now. EA500 for $69 is a good deal so is the EA650@$89 or even same build quality Corsair VX550. i have looked over that psu and it looks like the mod stream i got in a RMA from OCZ. Looks like all they did was add a red LED fan and use a different sticker with it being a 550watt psu vs 600watt(that i got). after talking with OW that does reviews at JG. the psu oem used isnt good, even at 600watt for the mod stream i got. it was suggested not to push it to far, as ripple on the voltage lines gets bad.

not sure if they are the same, while both have the same speed/timings. i always recalled the HK's having better IC's, that is looking at ocing though. for just stock it wouldnt matter but both atm are the same price at newegg.

Okay revised and updated. Also changed the monitor to the Acer, seems to have similar spec and reviews for a few dollars cheaper.

That very well may be but when I recommend parts I am going to recommend a known quantity, particularly to a newer member.

well i wouldnt be recommending it at all if OW says the voltage ripple gets bad. ripple is bad for the VRM's on the motherboard, can cause overheating of pwm's and other weird issues with parts.
