Updates today, they will be slow but they will happen.

Very good list. Now I will know that my board is compatible with Phenom II in case I want to upgrade in the future. Thanks.

Thanks again gyik. I'll be updating the list next week. Spending to much time with Sam ;)

A790GXM-A (V1.0) :: N/A :: 790GX :: SB750 does not support the Phenom II at all.

It is an usupported processor right now that *will* boot up. However, it will not recongize it as anything other than a unknown 3.0ghz cpu.

The next bios will support them. They are probably waiting until the AM3 officially release more than 2 chips for the series.

I own this board and can't wait to put in a 940 once it works.

I was wondering if my board supported the 720 BE. A previous post said the 750a mcp supported it and I have that. But I went onto the xfx website (sucks if I do say so myself) and they didn't show support for the am3. If if doesn't get bios update I might kill someone at XFX. This board has been good, but has basically screwed me over so far.

Edit: It does!!!!!!!! Quammy! I just have to flash the damn bios, which I tried these same bios update before and it gave me some crap.

Hmm I'm not sure I have any from XFX, never knew they updated their boards for the AM3 CPUs. I'll look into it tomorrow.

Best thing is to talk to those guys over at XFX. They would know what to do with that board. I have never used it, and I have not seen a lot of people using the XFX board around here.

Sorry man. :(

lol no problamo. I updated my bios finally last night. I kept getting and error saying the bios is write protected and I suddenly realized I have to turn that off. So I did and now I can adjust the ht multi, which I couldn't before and there are some other cool gadgets. But what leads me to believe it's an am3 board is the fact that the ht multi goes up to 13 (2600mhz). That would be impossible to reach on a PI none the less a PII. The 940's are at 3600mhz (up+down @ 1800Mhz) and the am3's are supposed to be 4000mhz (up+down @ 2000mhz) which is still 300 mhz shy. I doubt the xfx guys would leave 300mhz of head room for just a PI or an am2+ PII.

Your some what correct to say that a PI will not go over an HT of 1800 MHz. I don't recall anyone going higher then that. But for a PII, you can only go so high with the HT. For my board, it will not let me go higher unless I up the NB frequency.

Did your board finally recognize the PII?

My 9950BE runs faster than 1800 and I'm not the only one by a long shot. Many people have the 9950BE set to the stock HT Link of 10X ... :shrug:

Ahh ok

QuietIce, I forgot the Phenom Is supported HT3

I am really looking forward to the 720 im gonna get eventually. Dolk, I'll do testing on max oc with stock air, because im too cheap for a new fan or water and I won't be running it to high on average, but either way I look forward to being as much help as I can. Too bad by the time I get it there will be plenty of oc's already...
