I have an 8320 and had it running fine at a 4.2 overclock..i noticed one of my sticks of rams timings were off and for some reason didn't take the first time..so i had to clear cmos to rectify the situation. After clearing cmos and rebooting i tried to reset my previous clock of 4.2 it runs fine but any sort of gaming dx10+ (dx9 games seemed to work) causes it to hang/crash the game.

I did a little experimenting and cant even get it to run at 3.8 ...buut if i use the turbo option and let that clock it to 4.0 everything works fine.

However If i try using the same clocks and voltages as the turbo it will hang.... any ideas?? i feel like i'm probably overlooking an option or something

Whats weird, Is that mine is doing the same thing..

8150 oc'ed to 4.875 and it was for almost a year, All was good until one days had to clear my cmos.. And im having issues finding it again..

If you figure it out, Let me know what you did and ill do the same for you

At whatever overclock is stable with P95 Blend mode for 20 mins at least, do the following so we get to "see" some of what you see. Otherwise we might as well be looking up at our ceiling.

For overclocking we disable C1/E, C6, TurboCore, Cool N Quiet and we go into windows power management and set the mode to "performace". That is the only way we can see what the mobo is actually doing as it runs.

I have pics of my bios settings as well as my overclock profiles saved to CMOS. Then when I clear the CMOS, just choose saved profile and off and running again.

These are the types of information that most users supply in order to be able to help them very much.

And this is screen capture of HWMonitor (free version) from CPUID com
HWMonitor has been scrolled enough and large enough to show Min/Max of Voltages and includes the CPU CORE TEMPS fully visible.

This capture is made of HWMonitor after it has been open on the desktop logging Min/Max temps and voltages while Prime 95 was running Blend Mode test on all cores for at least 20 mins and then the capture of HWMonitor was made and it shows the Min/Max temps and voltages before P95 Blend was started and while running P95 Blend mode and gives much greater insight into how the system is performing without guessing.

In order to attach screenshots of INDIVIDUAL images as suggested, first crop and capture the images with Snipping Tool found in Windows Accessories or equivalent. Then click on Go Advanced, a button at the bottom of every new post window. Then click on the little paperclip tool at the top of the Advanced post window when it opens. Clicking on the paperclip tool brings up the file browser/upload tool and the rest is fairly obvious.

You can upload more than 3 images by repeatedly use BROWSE for file to upload. Images will appear in the post in the order they are uploaded unless you physically arrange the images differently.

RGone...

Here are some screen caps and noticed a discrepancy between what cpu-z is saying my voltage is and what overdrive is telling me (note it is running off turbo boost at the moment because normal overclock will not work)

One of the first things I would do is get rid of AMD OD. If you're using it to do your OC then that could be some of the problem. Not all versions of that software are stable from what I found. Secondly if you haven't done so set your ram up manually in the bios. For now I would use the second XMP profile of 9-11-9.
You said that the 2 sticks weren't setting up the same, this should help that too. Ram can cause a lot of instability issues as well.
We should know what motherboard you are using, so far anything I can dig up on the Biostar TA970 , looks like it's a 4 phase mobo and probably not suited for Overclocking an 8320.

Agreed!
