just buy a cross-over cable rj45...

just to add, you can also do it with a standard straight-through cable IF both NICs are auto-negotiating (negotiate the send/receive channels) but thats a big IF, and if they are older NICs its doubtful they are auto-neg
basically easiest way to do it, if you have an extra straight through cable laying around, just plug it into the NICs and if it works, then good, if not you'll need a crossover
