I used to design video games, mostly for consoles, and I can tell you that game designers (and programmers) NEVER have enough power to do what they want. It's the nature of the beast. At one company I worked for, we had a huge refrigerator-sized SGI system (that cost something like $1 million) used for military simulators. Naturally I played Quake on it.
