I have a question regarding about steam cache files and SteamApps.

I have a seperate partition for all my Games which is in D: drive.

The question if i reformat Windows XP will i need to reinstall steam and all the mods again? Or is it ok to leave the D:\Valve\Steam folder as it is?

I dont know if Steam require entries to be loaded in the registry?

thx for any help.
I have never had to reinstall anything related to Steam if I just kept it away from the formatted drive. Not the program, nor have I had to redownload games.

I'd say 75-85% of my games I can run without having to backup their registries before a format.
