My old mobo has stopped working so I plan to get a new one.

I wanted to ask you guys if DDR3 is good for the old Q6600 (I don't feel like it's that old) and what kind of DDR3 should I get?

I want to buy this mobo: http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/G41M-GS3/
- Dual Channel DDR3 memory technology
- 2 x DDR3 DIMM slots
- Supports DDR3 1333(OC)/1066/800 non-ECC, un-buffered memory
- Max. capacity of system memory: 8GB*

I thank you already for the (hope many) answers!

The socket is good, so you can go for this mobo (LGA 775).
DDR3 is good, you can go for 1066 or 1333 since it is officially supported. There are no reasons not to go for it...

Just be carefull to buy DRAM without ECC, surprises can happen :)

Oh, and :welcome:

Looking at the things you posted the answer is yes, as it say's in the Mobo listings for the Ram and in one of the customer reply's as well. AJ.

Should work fine. Do be aware that the G41 chipset doesn't allow much (if any) overclocking.

No, I'm not interested that much in overclocking. I'm more interested in reliability and endurance. I hope it lasts a lot much.

EDIT: Thank you very much for your answers!
