OK so I just bought my 2nd 5770, planning on the crossfire (naturally)

First question: difference between the two cards? Physically I note they have the same cooler but the cards themselves look considerably different: different color (1 brown 1 green) and one is an inch longer than the other. In addition I notice on startup the shorter green one (cant tell them apart now :p) - it's LED light flickers a little bit on bootup and is not as bright as the other. Don't think it's a power issue, both are on two sperate rails from a Corsair HX 750W.

Secondly when installing the 2nd card I noted (well it had happened for a while but I didnt give a **** previously) that CCC/AMDCC wont launch. The process kicks on for a second and then vanishes. Tried reinstalling all the C++ Redistributables, Tried Driver Sweeper, And I kept getting errors during the driver install attempts:

Error messages

At my wits end to the point where I have just decided to just blast it and reformat Windows which I am in the middle of. But of course now Im left here wondering, is there a key difference between the cards, will it affect crossfire?

Also this is my first Crossfire setup and would like to get pointed to some basics - ie. can you switch between Single and Dual card mode on the fly or does it require physical removal when you want to do it?

Thanks.

Edit: ASUS M4A89GTD PRO/USB3 AM3 1055T THUBAN PHENOM II X6 4GB DDR3 1333Mhz PCI-E x16 (2)* {2 cards x8 x8 or 1 card x16}

For 5770X2 is there a wrong way to attach the bridge? Should I use both bridge connectors or does it only use 1?

After googling around, I found this thread where the users say that one card is a reference card (and uses a reference cooler) and the other is a non-reference card. In lame-mans terms, one cards PCB was designed per AMDs official design, and the other was designed in-house by Sapphire.

Regarding your other questions, as far as I know you can just leave the Crossfire bridge connected between the two and disable Crossfire through the CCC if you want. You only need to use one bridge connector if you are only running two cards. You may want to try a clean Windows install and install the latest CCC right off the bat to test if your current configuration is giving you problems.

Thanks thats what I ended up doing. I think at this point it was a combination of things. some people suggested it was having to reinstall c++/.net libraries but it was probably having AMD overdrive installed from ASUS's website; the new AMD CC includes OD as a subprogram so I wager they were in conflict. Either way it's working good now, and during the entire shpiel they put out the new CAP for Skyrim, so everyone wins.
