document scanner

I'm looking for a cheap document scanner.
I've been searching around and have been absolutely shocked at the cost of these things. I can buy a scanner/printer/copier for 40 bucks, but a plain ol document scanner is 200+?

At work we use a Fujitsu scansnap 1500...great device, but 400+ is out of control for that device. I've been looking around but can't find anything under 150 that's not a flatbed. Why is finding something that scan multiple documents so expensive?

Help needed.

Scanning hundreds and 5-10 page documents is painful! And then combing them into one PDF...

I havent seen much either under $150 or so.
Wonder if there is some sort of all in one fax machine that could scan them into a file instead of just making a straight copy.
