its only a minor problem
i have an ati 9700 pro and two monitors i dont think their specifics are neccasarry
everything is great except it wont stretch wallpaper over the the two screens it just tries to display the wallpaper twice once on each monitor i can however drag stuff between the two windows and all of the other great stuff though

I can't say for sure since I have an NVidia card not an ATI card.
With Windows XP I can setup dual-monitors two ways:
1. With Windows XP display setup
2. NView

With Windows XP display setup I get the wallpaper duplicated
With NView display setup I get the wallpaper stretched.

Does ATI have its own multiple monitor setup to try?

ATi cards either:

1. Can't do it
2. Can't seem to get it implemented.

ATi is rubbish as far as multi-monitor features goes compared to the competition. You might want to try purchasing Ultra-Mon to see if that works.

I would suggest that you get a program called Ultramon (google) and then split the desktop you want up into two appropriatly sized parts and using the program put half on each monitor.

That would be the only way I know of to accomplis what you want.
